JANE DOE NO MORE
On June 16, 2009, CCWF's Annual Meeting took place at Capri Ristorante in Plainville, Connecticut. We were honored to have as our guest speaker, Donna Palomba. Donna is the founder of the organization Jane Doe No More. As a victim and survivor of sexual assault, Donna spoke her story of what came after the first offense - the second offense the lack of support and condemnation of the "system" put in place to protect the victims. Their organization states, "Crime happens everyday and it can happen to anyone. Every Jane Doe is an individual with hopes and dreams and talent. Proper treatment of the victim will shorten the time from the horror of the sexual assault to healing. All innocent victims of rape have a future, and it is our responsibility as a society to allow them to heal and give them the best chance for a full and healthy recovery." The message is imporant for everyone but definitely for women! Our turn out for the meeting was amazing!NEW YEAR NEW YOU
